Silence is Golden

TEXT DEUTSCH

„… genau hinschauen, verneigen. Ganz einfach, Pinsel tanzt, Leinwand singt. Ganz ohne Kraft!“
Kuwahara Sensei

TEXT ENGLISH

Silence, peace, emptiness, nothing that would excite the eye so much as that a thought be formed. Every day we live a material world but we are only then satisfied when we consciously perceive what is “now”. In the works emerged the artist tries not to direct the eye, to develop the surface homogenously but spirited. Following the tradition of the Japanese Hitsuzendô, the zen way of the paint-brush, the works are essence and emptiness at the same time.
“… look closely, bow. Simple as that, paint-brush dances, canvas sings. Without any force!”
Kuwahara Sensei

TEXT FRANCAIS

Zitat: Robert Musil

URBAN-FRAGMENTS
The Urban Fragment series processes controversial changes in public space through the medium of painting.
The proper task of architecture is to connect society through spatial forms, styles and perspectives.
Quotation: Richard Sennett
Traditionally a site of public space and social invention, the city is gradually losing this social function to new and inhuman virtual public spaces. While our present cityscapes may be degenerating into nostalgic relics of times gone by, today they still pulsate – if intermittently – with urban life.  The ability of synthesis in our time is lost. In light of this, today we can only provide fragments: fragments of life, fragments of history, fragments of architecture – Urban Fragments.
Quotation: Robert Musil
This series alienates us from habitual ways of seeing by employing unusual perspective and a reduced color palette.
Starting with photographs, my work reframes traditionial views of cities and their architecture. The area of conflict reaches from a rational stock-taking  until to a theatralic-pathetic or romantic painted atmosphere. Urban Fragments remains, however, anchored in the representational, offering new modes of seeing known places and spaces.
